The Spanish city of Barcelona, capital city of Catalonia and the province bearing the same name, is located a hundred and twenty kilometers south from the Pyrenees mountain range and from the border with France, along the Mediterranean coast.
More precisely, it is a plain located between the mouths of the rivers Llobregat and Besòs and limited to the east by the sea and to the west by the Serra de Collserola ridge.
This city has a population of about one million and a half and it is the tenth most populated city in the European Union and the second one in Spain, after Madrid.
In addition to its stunning beauty, this place is very well known worldwide because important events are held here regularly.
Some examples of these major events are the 1888 Universal Exhibition and the 1929 International Exhibition as well as the 2004 Universal Forum of Cultures. Moreover, this city is well known for hosting the 1992 Summer Olympics.
