Among the many attractions this city has to offer, the Cultural Complex of the Republic, Lago Paranoá (Paranoa Lake), Juscelino Kubitschek bridge and the Cathedral of Brasilia are some of the main ones.

Cultural Complex of the Republic |
The Cultural Complex of the Republic is a cultural center located along the Monumental Axis, in the city of Brasilia. The National Library of Brasilia and the National Museum of the Republic are the main attractions of this complex.
The National Library of Brasilia covers an area of 14,000 square meters and has several facilities such as two reading rooms, an auditorium and a collection that includes more than 30,000 items.
The Museu Nacional da República (National Museum of the Republic) covers an area of 14,500 square meters and has auditoriums and a laboratory. This venue is used mainly to hold varied temporary art exhibitions.

Lago Paranoá (Paranoá Lake) is a great artificial lake built in order to increase the amount of water available in the region. It holds the country's second largest marina and proves ideal for wakeboard and windsurf lovers.

Juscelino Kubitschek Bridge |
The Juscelino Kubitschek bridge, also known as the 'President JK Bridge' or the 'JK Bridge', crosses (Lago Paranoa) Lake Paranoá in Brasilia.. Architect Alexandre Chan and structural engineer Mário Vila Verde were in charge of the bridge's design.
Chan was awarded the Gustav Lindenthal Medal for this project at the International Bridge Conference held in Pittsburgh in 2003.
It consists of three 200 feet tall asymmetrical steel arches that interlace diagonally and have a lenght of some 0,75 miles.
The bridge has a pedestrian walkway and is accessible to bicyclists and skaters. Works were completed in 2002 at a cost of US$56.8 million.

J. KUBITSCHEK BRIDGE

This sight is located in the capital city of the Federative Republic of Brazil and it was designed by architect Oscar Niemeyer.
The Cathedral was completed on the 31st May 1970 and only the 70 meter diameter of the circular area is visible.

Praça dos Três Poderes Square |
The Praça dos Três Poderes (Square of the Three Braches) is one of the country's main squares. As the name implies, the three branches of government meet at this place.
Such branches are: the Executive branch, represented by the Palácio do Planalto, the Legislative branch, represented by the Congresso Nacional (National Congress); and the Judicial branch, represented by the Justiça de Palácio (Palace of Justice).
Nowadays, this place is another well worth visiting attraction. It was designed by Lúcio Costa and Oscar Niemeyer and the main aim was to create a place where the three branches of government would meet.

Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park |
Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park is a conservation area located in the north east region of Goias State, in Brazil, some 200 kilometers from Brasilia and 500 kilometers from Goiania, in Chapada dos Veadeiros Micro region.
It is a large area that houses a broad variety of animals and vegetation and stunningly beautiful waterfalls.
The park was created on the 11th January 1961 and covers an area of some 655 square kilometers. Nowadays, IBAMA is in charge of preserving it. |
