How to Arrive by Plane |
El Calafate has got since December of 2000 the
International Airport El Calafate, located 22 km. from the
city.
To it, daily flights arrive from Buenos Aires, Ushuaia,
Bariloche, Trelew, Córdoba and Mendoza, among other
cities.
You can choose among many air companies, being the most
frequents Aerolíneas
Argentinas and LADE.
Also it arrive flights from Chile through the company DAP.

How to Arrive by Bus |
By Car: from Buenos
Aires by the coast you must take the routes up to Bahía
Blanca or Colorado river, from here up to San Antonio Oeste.
Form here you must go on by Route 3 up to Gallegos river,
then take route 5, after it the 40 and finally the 11. All
of them are asphalted and in good conditions.

From the South of Chile you can get
to El
Calafate through Gallegos River if you take route 255,
crossing the Paso de Integración Austral.
If you choose for route 9 you can cross the frontier in
Natales Port, arriving to Turbio river or crossing by the
Castillo Hill, getting to Cancha Carrera.
In both cases you will go on by route 7 that is totally
asphalted, up to Esperanza, keeping by Route 5 to end in
Route 11.

By Bus: from Buenos
Aires there are many companies that link with El Calafate:
Andesmar, TAC, El Pingüino, Don Otto. All these companies
take you up to Gallegos River, where there you can combine
with local companies to get to El Calafate.
The trip between Buenos Aires and Gallegos River lasts
36 hours and the Gallegos River up to El Calafate only 4
hours. From the South of Chile, from Natales Port there
are buses that get to El Calafate in only 5 hours.
