The National Park Los Glaciares is a unique place in the World, because of this reason, in the year 1981; the UNESCO declared it “World Heritage”.

This park is in a zone of climate changes and variated landscapes. From the top mountain up to the patagonica steppe, everything changes in the surrounding area.

The steppe that follows the mountain chain offer a special habitat for mammals and birds and the variety of flora in this devastated landscape is difficult to imagine.

The main attraction is its glaciers, each one with its particularities. Also exist in this almost no inhabited zone many fossils prehistoric that is worth discovering it.

The National Park Los Glaciares cover a surface of 600.000 hectares in which there are 47 glaciers.

The Perito Moreno Glaciar, the most popular in the zone, is located 80 km from El Calafate, stretch that is passed over an asphalted path up to arriving in the National Park Los Glaciares.

From its beginning the trip offers beautiful surprises, in the first 40 kilometers you will visit the patagonica steppe getting immediately after to the entrance to the National Park Los Glaciares.

Once in the Glaciar, you can see the majestic that impacts into your eyes, after you are recovered from it you can go through the staircases and footbridges to obtain different views of the front of the Glacier.

In this zone of the park you must take care of the signals and go round in every moment by the footbridge without being far from them.

The preservation of the beauty of this place is in charge of the park keepers who are also in charge of important duties such as the one of informing.

The excursions can be done through regular services or alternative of different touristic companies, they usually last all day.

Besides, you can do Minitrekking, it is a long walk of an hour of duration that is done along the whole day.

The excursion consists in doing long walks with special shoes by pre-established circuits over glaciers.

It is the second most important glacier of the zone but it is not as popular as the Perito Moreno, and the only manner to get to it is by boat.

Nowadays, two excursions are done in order to visit the glacier, both by the river and in both you have to hire the service of transfer up to Punta Bandera, located 50 km to El Calafate.

These excursions permit seeing other glaciers such as Spegazzini and Onelli by getting into the bay that both make. Going down Onelli Bay and crossing the forest up to Onelli Lake.

In winter this zone becomes inaccessible because of this reason the excursion becomes shorter. Besides, this excursion permits to do other activities such as cavalcades, long walks or long-distance in 4x4.

Nautic Safari: this excursion consist of navigating by the Rico Lake that permits appreciate the ice floe of the Perito Moreno Glacier.

Big Ice: this is an approaching crossing done through a path located on the south of the Glacier Perito Moreno.

Other crossing are: pendant glaciers, cruise Leal Spirit of the Glacial, Moreno Fiesta and Todo Glaciares.
