It is also possible to access Bolivia by land, since it has a number of international terminal stations and several routes that connect most cities and towns.
Nevertheless, visitors should know that most access routes and roads to Bolivia haven’t been paved yet. Consequently, depending on the time of the year, you may be unable to access the country by land.
An important road links La Paz and Oruro city, from where we will have access to other cities such as Sucre, Potosí and the south area of the country. There is a new road that links Oruro and other cities: Cochabamba and Santa Cruz.
Also, it is possible to follow a paved road to arrive at Copacabana and Tiwanaku in the west, near the Titicaca Lake, continuing up to the city of Cusco, going by Desaguadero, a frontier city.
Also, there are roads that can be followed to access the north area of the country to reach the Yungas, “paceños” that cross the Andes mountain range.
By Bus
In order to access the city by bus, La Paz offers a bus station, the Terminal Terrestre de Autobuses. Buses run daily connecting this station with the country’s main cities.
Moreover, some buses run to and from cities from other countries such as Chile and Peru. To travel to smaller towns, buses can be taken in informal stations located in Villa Fatima, San Pedro and the surrounding areas.
