Also, through the Pan-American route you will have access to any of the beaches from the North or South areas, although the journey in this case is a little longer and can last up to forty five minutes.

Visiting the city's Historic Centre and enjoying the Pre-Colombian heritage is a must for tourists and it may even be the starting point for anyone who has decided to visit the city.

At night, trying the excellent local cuisine, based on seafood, is highly recommended. Also it is possible to sample French, Chinese, Arab, Italian and even Japanese cuisine in a variety of restaurants available here.

Lima’s Cathedral

This Cathedral began to be built the same day of the city's foundation. Hence, it is a building of enormous value in terms of history.

It was initially a small worship temple, but in 1564 The Archbishop Jeronimo de Loayza assigns the task of reforming it to make it look like the Cathedral of Seville in Spain.

Nowadays located in the city's Main Square, this Cathedral holds the remains of its founder Francisco Pizarro. Moreover, it boasts The Ivory Christ, a splendid gift from King Charles V, the wooden seats of the choir and the heavily ornamented "Inmaculada" chapel of baroque style.

Aliaga's House

This typical and emblematic mansion of Lima has been inhabited permanently by the descendants of the first proprietor and it was built during the viceroyalty times, and today is one of the few ones that remain in the whole world.

This house was constructed on a Pre-Columbian sanctuary where people used to pay tribute to the main authority of Rimac Valley, Taulichusco.

It was Jeronimo de Aliaga who decided to build this house in lands which, according to historians, were given to him by Francisco Pizarro himself.

Nowadays, it is one of the oldest colonial mansions in Lima, of course built on the ruins of an old temple, still preserving, for example, the old ficus patio and the small chapel with central lantern.

San Francisco Church

In terms of architecture, San Francisco Church is one of Peru's most impressive buildings. Consequently, it has been declared UNESCO World Heritage Site.

This church began to be built in the year 1542 and it was not finished until a hundred and two years later, in 1674. But the hard work was well worth it. Its color and impressive size are two of the building's most outstanding features.

A wide range of attractions can be enjoyed within this building such as a network of underground galleries and catacombs that used to be cemetery in the colonial times. Moreover, it is possible to appreciate the cloisters and gatehouse adorned with Sevillian tiles.

Each of the building's naves has seven altars and a museum, a collection of paintings and a hundred and twenty eight seats of the choir.
