Grutas de Garcia (Caves of Garcia)
|
These caves, which are located forty kilometers from Monterrey, in an area known as Villa Garcia, are the country’s largest caves and were formed over sixty million years ago.
The caves are about eighty meters high and given its location this place can be accessed travelling through a funicular railway only. Once there visitors should walk one mile along a gallery until arriving at the deepest part of Fray Hill.
One of the chief attractions in this place is a number of large balconies which afford stunning views of amazing stalactites, stalagmites and marine fossils. In addition, campsites, playgrounds for children and parking spaces among other facilities are available within the caves’ surroundings.
