How to travel to Monterrey Mexico

Monterrey is one of the most important cities in Latin America, and the third one in Mexico given its industrial activities, its cosmopolitan character and sustainable economic development.
Hence, Monterrey is a destination with easy access by land and by air.
Nowadays, this modern capital city of Nuevo León State is connected with the main cities of the country and with the most important cities in the United States.

How to travel by Air |
The city of Monterrey is served by two international airports, a commercial airport named Aeropuerto Internacional Mariano Escobedo and a private airport known as Aeropuerto del Norte.
The first one, International Airport Mariano Escobedo is one of the country’s safest airports and one of the busiest ones as well. It is located some 24 kilometers from the city in the northwest area along route 54.

Flights from Mexican cities and cities from the United States such as Aguas Calientes, Tijuana, Cancun, Mexico city, Puebla, León, Veracruz, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Las Vegas and Los Angeles arrive at this airport.
Passengers will arrive at the city after a half an hour or forty minutes drive from the Mariano Escobedo airport. There are taxis available to cover this journey and the fare costs about 200 Mexican pesos.

How to travel by Land |
By Car
In order to access the city of Monterey from another city of the country travelers must follow any of the Federal routes that connect them, for example Federal Route 40, 45 or 57.
From Mexico city it is necessary to travel 957 kilometers before arriving at the capital city of Nuevo León, while from the United States we must travel some 300 kilometers heading south.

By Bus
There is a Bus Station available at Monterrey that receives most buses coming from the Terminal Norte (North Terminal) of Mexico City. Such station is located in the avenue known as Avenida de los Cien Metros.
The journey ends in the intersection of the avenue named Cristobal Colon and Amado Nervo, between Rayon and Villagrán.
For reasons of security, it is vitally important that tourists look like local people and they shouldn´t trust completely on people offering their help with luggage. Make sure that you are being served by a worker of the bus station and he is wearing the corresponding badge.
