Tourist Information about Monterrey

Also known as "Sultana del Norte" (Lady of the North), Monterrey is the capital city of the Mexican state of Nuevo León and it is located in the northeast area of the country. Nowadays, Monterrey is one of the main cities in the north area and even in the country.

Regarding the city’s urban development and the cultural life, they are both steeped in history and reflect the effort people of Monterrey devoted to become the country’s third most important city and the one that produces more than half the manufactured products exported by Mexico.

The city’s architecture successfully combines modernism and innovative architectural styles with old buildings in a colonial style that are still very well preserved.

Currently, Monterrey bears a great similarity to many cities of North America, especially when it comes to commercial activities and progress achieved.

Nevertheless, it is still one of the most conservative and most cultural cities in Mexico and the strong nationalistic feelings of its people are clear evidence of this.
