The Carnival

Carnival is the most popular and biggest Uruguayan festivity and it is really important in Montevideo. The Candombe is a characteristic rhythm of Uruguay. It arrived to these lands together with black people who were brought as slaves from the west of Africa.


The most important moment for the Candome is the Carnival in February even though it is possible to say that it is something that is daily practiced at the most populated neighborhoods. Candombe can be found in many music rhythms, even rock.
