Sport fishing on the coast or embarked, hunting, photographic safaris, horse riding, palaeontologic walks, rural tourism, observing the fauna, geologic and anthropologic excursions are some examples of the many attractions that can be enjoyed here.
Moreover, it is possible to give sports such as mountain bike and sand-board a try, enjoy 4x4 journeys, do water sports such as kayak, windsurf, yachting, canoeing and rafting. Diving is one of the major attractions as well as flying in light aeroplanes.

Punta de Loma’s Protected Area in Puerto Madryn |
This area consists of a seal reserve and was created on the 6th January 1967. It is located only 17 kilometres away from Puerto Madryn City and can be visited at low tide all year long.
Accessing this reserve is fairly easy. Firstly, Brown Boulevard should be followed south-east as far as the National University of Patagonia. Once there, the only road that can be found must be followed in order to arrive exactly at the seal reserve.
Should we continue travelling along such road, we will come across an extremely old sedimentary formation, where fossil remains of oysters and marine vertebrates can be found, known as Playa de Cerro Avanzado, 3 kilometres towards the south.
In addition, if we return back by the same road, we will be able to enjoy other beaches such as del Pozo beach, Paraná beach, Punta Este beach and Kaiser beach. |

Eco-centre in Puerto Madryn |
This Eco-centre is located on a cliff only five minutes away from the city, travelling along the Almirante Guillermo Brown Boulevard.
Great beauty is the most striking features of this extraordinary place, similar to a natural watching house where it is possible to enjoy of a guided visit, take a photograph or even stop to hear the amazing singing of the whales.
The house’s big windows enable us to enjoy wonderful perspectives and landscapes. Moreover, the building itself, which is home to the Eco-centre and features a welsh architecture, can hardly go unnoticed.
Here it is possible to find out why whales breach, to what extent are fur seals, sea lions and elephant seals similar, and even how strong the ocean currents are.
Finally, visitors may watch closely small invertebrates that feed, breathe and move in a relaxed way along a big heated pool in the Eco-centre. |

Submarine Baptism in Puerto Madryn |
This is one of the most popular activities in Puerto Madryn and consists of baptising those who have never had a diving experience and giving them finally the opportunity to visit the Sub-aquatic Parks.
Moreover, those who wish to go through this unforgettable and enjoyable experience will have to wear an isothermic Neoprene suit since temperatures in the New Gulf fluctuate between 8 and 17 º C.
It is important to know that an instructor will lead the excursion, offering a previous talk during which he will explain the main points of this practice. It is during this talk that people will have contact with the diving equipment for the first time.
After the talk we will be ready to go into the water where we will find salmons, sheepshead, sea anemones, starfish, octopus, sea urchins, and of course a variety of algae. Once the excursion is over, tourist will be awarded a certificate and a photograph. |

El Doradillo Beach of Puerto Madryn |
This beach is located 18 kilometres away from Puerto Madryn city, in the Municipal Conservation Area El Doradillo, and it is an ideal place to visit between the last days of March and the beginning of December.
Among the many other attractions this beach has to offer it is possible to watch the Austral Frank whales and their calves swimming only a few metres from the coast. Moreover, the beautiful sea and the thick yellow sand can be hugely enjoyed in this environment.
Furthermore, the sharp cliff that features this beach is ideal for whales to give birth, breast feed and even for whales to perform their courtship rituals. Thus, El Doradillo beach is a natural reproduction area.
Accessing this place is quite simple: firstly Domeq García Avenue should be followed towards the north, then routes number 1 and number 2. Once we have reached the place, we can enjoy the breathtaking natural scenery from a watching house built by the Patagonia Natural Foundation. |

Natural Sciences and Oceanographic Museum |
This Museum is located in Domecq Garcia Street and Mendez Street and contains the region’s history and its many attractions. Moreover, it is organised into different theme rooms.
Such museum works in an old building that used to belong to one of the region’s first inhabitants, the Spanish immigrant Agustín Pujol, who settled there in the year 1904. Hence, the museum’s atmosphere is charged with memories of the past.
A winding stair made of carved stone and fitted to the tower’s walls and a Welsh Room, where historic and photographic material can be found paying special consideration to the Welsh colonisation of Chubut, are some features of this museum.
Moreover, a Cetacean Room, a Geology Room, a Botanical Room, Marine Mammals and Birds Room and, finally, a Fish and Invertebrates Room can be visited here as well. Thus, it could be stated that the whole of Puerto Madryn is represented at this museum. |

This important institution plays a major role in Puerto Madryn’s cultural and social life, being the only Modern Art Museum in the whole Patagonia.
The aim of the museum is to offer varied and unknown artists a possibility to exhibit their work in a favourable atmosphere. The access is free and in it you can observe the outstanding works of artists such as Pérez Calis, Martín Quinquela, Marino Santamarina and other regional artists. Paintings, sculptures, engravings, photographs and portraits can be enjoyed here. |
