Most of the international flights arrive in the Juan Santamaría International Airport of San Jose and Daniel Oduber Quirós. The airport tax for international flights is seventeen dollars.

However, there are two important national airlines: SANSA and Travelair. In this case, airline reservations must be made well in advance.

Visitors should be aware of the fact that for citizens of some countries no visa is required in order to remain in Costa Rica for ninety days.

This is true for people coming from: France Finland, Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Belgium, Austria, Denmark, Canada, Hungary, Holland, Italy, Israel, Japan, Luxembourg, Norway, Liechtenstein and Panama.

And also for people coming from: Poland, Paraguay, Rumania, South Korea, Puerto Rico, Portugal, Greece, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, Trinidad y Tobago, Czech Republic, United Status, United Kingdom and Uruguay.

From Nicaragua, for example, the main border crossing is located in the area known as Peñas Blancas, on the west coast. Between Costa Rica and Panama, the border crossings are Paso Canoas, Sixaola/Guabito and Río Sereno.

Although public transport in San Jose is well developed, and there are services to almost any part of the country, this means of transport may be the cheapest but not the most comfortable one.

The best available option regarding land transport is hiring a taxi by the day or by the time you will need it.
