Regarding the architecture of this building, it has a neo- colonial style. All the construction work was carried out between 1935 and 1952.
Monsignor Ernesto Vicente de Miguel, who was by then the priest (from 1941 to 1985), worked really hard to finish the Cathedral.
Therefore, his body rests in the outside part of the entrance, where a wall made of black marble can be found.

General San Martin Square |
The place where the San Martin Square is found was donated by the French citizen Rodolfo Iselín. Then, it was engineer Fiorini who was in charge of the layout.
Firstly, in 1925 only the bust of the General could be found in this square. However, in the year 1928 the monument was already finished and it consisted on a equestrian statue made of bronze, which is still well preserved nowadays.
Such statue represents the moment when General San Martin raises his right arm and points at the road that the Army from the Andes had to follow in order to achieve the independence of the South American people from the Spanish Crown.
