Regarding the city’s urban design, the street layout was planned according to the traditional Spanish style. There is a square located in the heart of the old part of the city (the main square) and it is ringed by surrounding avenues, which are known as rings (“anillos” in Spanish). Radial main avenues run out from the centre going for many directions. Hence, the city has a ring- radial street system.
