Ancient buildings from former generations can be seen on the shores of Uruguay River, along the south coastline of Salto. “La Verde” and “La Vasca” are some well-known examples of such buildings.

MATTOS NETTO PARK

In this natural park more than 150 species can be seen, including a substantial number of native endangered species and exotic animals. More than 450 creatures live together in an area blessed with lush green vegetation.
Other special features that characterise the zoo are colourful birds, a natural reserve inhabited mainly by deer, birds flitting about at the lagoons and reptiles.
Moreover, ferocious beasts with beautiful hair will welcome us to the zoo. So will attentive pumas, discreet jaguars and lions. Bears, monkeys, goats, llamas, and the stunningly beautiful seal will also be politely waiting for us. |

Larrañaga Theatre in Salto |
The city’s municipality owns and manages this theatre, inaugurated on the 5th October 1882.
The theatre has a total capacity of 850 people. Consequently, it is the city’s main exhibition hall.
It is the theatre’s excellent acoustics that makes it a really well known attraction. |

El Ateneo Theatre in Salto |
Located in Artigas Street number 529, this theatre was inaugurated on the 19th April 1895 and it has a total capacity of 250 people.
El Ateneo, another valuable contribution to the city’s cultural life, reveals an urban character from the late twentieth century.
Since inaugurated, this theatre has been witness to the city’s most important artistic and intellectual events. |
