Located in Guatemala department, Guatemala is the capital city of the country bearing the same name. Due to its stunning beauty and the perfect harmony this city has achieved, Guatemala is nowadays one of Latin America's most attractive cities.
The city is located in a mountain valley known as "Valle de la Ermita" and the mountain range and four volcanoes that can be found here, namely Agua, Acatenango, Pacaya and Fuego are some of the area's main features.
Another noticeable feature of this city is the fact that it is divided into fifteen areas. One example of these divisions is the "Zona Viva" and "Zona 13". Both areas successfully combine the old colonial style with some modern and cosmopolitan aspects.
In the heart of the city centre or "Zona Viva", known also as "Zona 10" a wide variety of hotels and restaurants can be found as well as a bustling nightlife.
In Zone 13 most of the city's typical museums can be found such as the Museo de Arqueología y Etnología (archaeological museum) and the Museo del Niño. Also, the well-known Crafts market can be visited here. |
